Bosnia and Herzegovina:

division through education

Twenty-three years ago, peace between the former Yugoslav republics was “officially established” by the Dayton Agreement; however, the reconciliation between the countries is still in the making. Such a significant field as education is still left behind the “more important” topics in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project presented on this website touches on two examples of division in education - different content of history textbooks and the phenomenon of “two schools under one roof.” In the last section, you will get an interactive “history lesson” about the Siege of Sarajevo and about the most important events during the 20th century in Western Balkans territory.

The content of this website was made as a final project for the international program Journalism, Multimedia and World Politics at the Danish School of Media and Journalism (DMJX) in Aarhus, Denmark.
